Mary Guterson is the author of two novels. Sparky is a five-year-old mini-dachshund...who, according to Guterson, is irresistible and a total firecracker:
I made the huge mistake of visiting a friend with puppies. Sparky weighed about two pounds at the time and was the cutest thing EVER. What could I do? I forked over six hundred bucks and here we are, a few thousand dollars (broken back) later, totally in love.[read on]We Are All Fine Here, Guterson's first novel, was published in 2005. Kaye Gibbons, author of Divining Women, called it “A gracefully imagined and bluntly expressed novel, a rare combination. It speaks directly to the heart about the heart, also rare and very welcome.”
The New Yorker called Guterson's voice “expert deadpan” in her recently-released second novel, Gone to the Dogs, which features a dog-napping heroine named Rena.
Among the early praise for the novel:
"Hilarious, touching, and downright inspiring, Gone to the Dogs is unrestrained good fun and an irresistible read!"Visit Mary Guterson's website.
