Advising Amis about teaching witing

Martin Amis is taking up a gig teaching creative writing at Manchester University.

Louise Doughty, who has some experience at novel-writing as well as with teaching novel-writing, has some sensible-sounding advice for Amis.

Perhaps the toughest advice to follow for a man who once said, "I have a god-like relationship with the world I've created. It is exactly analogous. There is creation and resolution, and it's all up to me."--
Resist the temptation to talk about yourself. They will all want to know, but that's tough. Say politely, we are here to talk about your work not mine.
