Robert Olmstead's 6 favorite books

Robert Olmstead's novels include Far Bright Star and the award-winning Coal Black Horse. His latest book is The Coldest Night, a soldier's love story, set against the backdrop of the Korean War.

One of his six favorite books, as told to The Week magazine:
Legends of the Fall by Jim Harrison

This novella about a family in the northern Rockies came my way in 1979 when first published in Esquire. It's the story of so many families whose lives are lived at the grand intersections of historical upheaval and transformation.
Read about another entry on the list.
