Ten of the best journalists in literature

For the Guardian, John Mullan tagged a list of ten of the best journalists in literature.

One entry on the list:
Rita Skeeter

Rita guiltlessly fabricates stories for the Daily Prophet. When Harry Potter first meets her she shows him her Quick Quotes Quill in action; it writes: "Attractive blonde Rita Skeeter, forty-three, whose savage quill has punctured many savage reputations". Rita is a witch who uses her ability to transform into a beetle in order to eavesdrop on conversations.
Read about another journalist on the list.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone also appears on John Mullan's lists of ten of the best scars in fiction and ten of the best motorbikes in literature, Justin Scroggie's top ten list of books with secret signs. It is one of 15 classic science fiction and fantasy novels that publishers rejected. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is on John Mullan's list of ten of the best graveyard scenes in fiction.
