The ten best spy novels

At the Independent, Samuel Muston complied a list of the ten best spy novels.

One title on the list:
RESTLESS BY WILLIAM BOYD

Forget Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - Boyd's novel has a female spy in the leading role. And as a stomach-churning scene with a pencil shows, she may be quiet but she certainly isn't to be underestimated. A rollicking read.
Read about another novel on the list.

Also see Charles Cumming's five favorite works on espionage, Stella Rimington's six favorite secret agent novels, and Alan Furst's five best spy books.
