A reading list on rats

For the Independent, Alice-Azania Jarvis came up with a reading list on rats. She named a non-fiction book, a work of poetry, a manual for rat-keeping, a short story, a horror novel, and this children's book:
The Tale of Samuel Whiskers (or Roly Poly Pudding) by Beatrix Potter

Inspired by a rat infestation in the author's home, Samuel Whiskers recounts the adventure of an inquisitive cat, Tom Kitten, who finds himself faced with a pair of giant rats. They tie him up and prepare to bake him in a roll of pastry – but his friends hear the noise.
