Ten best books for young readers which are about black characters

Tanya Byrne is the author of Heartshaped Bruise and Follow Me Down, her third novel will be published later this year.

A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K Le Guin

This was first published in 1968, but is still much loved today and tells the story of a young mage named Ged who is sent to a special school for wizards.
