Top five novels set in Greece

Henriette Lazaridis Power is a first-generation Greek-American who has degrees in English literature from Middlebury College; Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar; and the University of Pennsylvania. She taught at Harvard for ten years, serving as an academic dean for four of those. She is the founding editor of The Drum, a literary magazine publishing exclusively in audio form. A competitive rower, Power trains regularly on the Charles River in Boston.

Her latest novel is The Clover House.

One of the author's top five novels set in Greece, as shared at the Huffington Post:
Louis de Berniéres: Corelli's Mandolin (1995)

Another novel about the war, this one centering on the Italian occupation of the island of Cephallonia. Theirs was a reluctant occupation, and de Berniéres tells a moving tale of shifting allegiance and developing community among the occupiers and the occupied. Throw in a love story, vividly-drawn characters, and de Bernieres' evocative descriptions of the Ionian landscape, and you have a satisfying and moving narrative.
Read about another entry on the list.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin is among Michael Dobbs's six best books, Omid Djalili's six best books, and Olivia Williams's six best books.
