He is the author of The White Man’s Burden: How the West’s Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good, which was named among the Best Books of 2006 by the Economist, the Washington Post, and the Financial Times.
Easterly accepted my invitation to subject his book to the "page 69 test." Here is his response:
This is a very clever idea. My book's page 69 is something a little different -- it is a graph! Actually, it is one of the best illustrations of the book's subtitle, "How the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good." The graph shows the collapse of economic activity in the former Soviet Union as zealous Western experts poured in giving money and advice on how to move overnight from Communism to Capitalism. Many thanks to Bill for the input.

This Washington Post essay touches on some of the points in the book.

Last summer, Easterly counseled Washington Post readers on "4 Ways To Spend $60 Billion Wisely."
More recently he penned an Op-Ed titled "The Dismal Science" for the Wall Street Journal. Jeffrey Sachs responded to the essay, and Easterly responded to Sachs.
