Salon is running a week-long end-of-year best books-of-2006 series.
Today's edition includes brief accounts by a number of Salon's favorite writers of their favorite 2006 reads.
Stephen Elliott's My Girlfriend Comes to the City and Beats Me Up--read his contribution to the "page 69 series" here--was named by Jonathan Ames, author of I Love You More Than You Know.
Elliott himself cited Peter Orner's The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo and Indecent by Sarah Katherine Lewis.
Malcolm Gladwell picked Michael Lewis' The Blind Side. Read the "page 69" entry for The Blind Side here.
Several of the authors recommended my favorite book of the year.
