Twelve top memoirs by women

For Cosmopolitan, Julie Buntin tagged twelve memoirs by women that will get you through anything, including:
Smashed, by Koren Zailckas

Koren Zailckas had her first drink at 14. In high school she had her stomach pumped, but that didn’t stop her from spending her college years getting blackout drunk as often as possible. She was taken advantage of by men whose faces she barely remembers, and she writes about waking up in an unfamiliar apartment with no memory of getting there. Few authors have been brave enough to write about the ways alcohol and binge drinking threaten young women — Zailckas’s memoir is both a stunningly honest piece of art and a sobering look at American drinking culture.
