Fifty best summer reads

The Independent came up with a list of the 50 best summer reads.

One novel on the list:
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Díaz

The writing of Junot Diaz contains a mixture of high and low culture familiar to anyone who reads the work of his American contemporaries – Michael Chabon, Dave Eggers, Jonathan Lethem. But Diaz’s work has the added element of dealing with the immigrant experience. This, his first full-length novel, is the vibrant tale of Oscar Wao, an overweight Dominican boy from New Jersey, and his family’s troubled Caribbean history.
Read about another book on the list.
