Ten of the best fictional fathers

At the Telegraph Jamie Fewery tagged the ten best fictional fathers, including:
William Stoner in Stoner by John Williams

Named by many as the novel of 2013, despite being published in 1965 (I’ll leave you to look up the story of the rediscovery). Stoner is, by every measure, a classic. And Stoner himself is a beautiful character, though often painful to read. He is a father who loves and wants to care for his daughter, but finds himself involuntarily estranged from her. Heartbreaking.
Read about another father on the list.

Stoner is among Colum McCann's top ten novels featuring poets.
