Diana Quick's 6 best books

Diana Quick has acted on stage and screen yet is best known for playing Julia Flyte in the TV drama Brideshead Revisited. Her memoir is A Tug On The Thread: From The British Raj To The British Stage.

She told the Daily Express about her six best books, including:
The Blue Flower
by Penelope Fitzgerald

A fascinating novel by the late Booker prize-winning author, this centres on the 18th-century German poet and philosopher Novalis and his love for what seems to be a rather ordinary child. An extraordinary novel, rightly regarded as her masterpiece.
Read about another book on Quick's list.

The Blue Flower is one of Sebastian Faulks' forty recommended books and appears on Kate Blackwell's list of five books distinguished by sheer originality of language and unique vision. It was one of my favorite two books of 1995.
