Coffee with a canine: Jen Calonita & Captain Jack Sparrow

Today's featured duo at Coffee with a Canine: Jen Calonita and Captain Jack Sparrow.

How did a chihuahua get a name like Captain Jack Sparrow?
Calonita: My husband and I loved Pirates of the Caribbean and felt Captain Jack Sparrow was a cool name for such a little dude. We like to joke that if we ever get Jack a female companion, we'd name her Liz, for Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley's character).[read on]
Calonita's first novel, Secrets of My Hollywood Life, was about a teen starlet named Kaitlin Burke who tires of the fame game and decides to hide out in high school disguised as someone else. Us Weekly's Mara Reinstein said about Secrets: "At last! A witty, entertaining and refreshingly honest take on what it's really like to be a celebrity 'It' girl." The sequel to Secrets, On Location, was published in May 2008. It was followed by Family Affairs; the fourth novel in the series, Paparazzi Princess, came out in March 2009. Broadway Lights, the next Secrets of My Hollywood Life book, will be released in March 2010.

Calonita has also written a stand-alone book about camp counselors-in-training called Sleepaway Girls, which was published in May.
