As a young adult librarian, I work really hard to strike a balance between what I need to read and what I want to read. Luckily I genuinely love and enjoy reading young adult literature, so I don’t mind reading that the majority of the time. When I can get away with it, I try to read one YA book, one adult book, one YA book, one adult book, etc. There are certain times of the year that I can’t squeeze an adult book in the middle, like when I need to read for my book awards committee or when I’m planning summer book club.
