The 10 most unbelievable alien races in science fiction

Charlie Jane Anders, news editor for io9, compiled a list of the ten most unbelievable alien races in science fiction. Entries come from comic books, movies and television, and this one from the fiction shelves:
Vogons, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

These are the bureaucratic, poetry-writing aliens who demolish the Earth. As Matt Leach notes: "So much paper work just to have intercourse. They would have died out quickly." (Plus, also from Hitchhiker's Guide, the Hoovooloo, a hyper-intelligent shade of blue. Which, yeah, not really that likely.)
Read about another entry on the list.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy appears on Charlie Jane Anders's lists of eleven books that every aspiring television writer should read and ten satirical novels that could teach you to survive the future, Saci Lloyd's top ten list of political books for teenagers, Rob Reid's list of 6 favorite books, Esther Inglis-Arkell's list of ten of the best bars in science fiction, Don Calame's top ten list of funny teen boy books, and John Mullan's list of ten of the best instances of invisibility in literature.
