Critic's chart: six American noir masters
Barry Forshaw, author of The Rough Guide to Crime Fiction, named a "critic's chart" of "six American noir masters" for the London Times.
One prolific master who made the cut:
Donald Westlake aka Richard Stark Westlake is nonpareil, but aficionados have a sneaking regard for the spare, existential Parker novels that he wrote as Stark.
