Kate Christensen's list

Last week at The Week magazine, Kate Christensen contributed "The List" -- six books that she rereads all the time.

One of her titles:
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton

I know there’s no hope for Lily Bart, I know she’s doomed. But it’s only because she’s unable to sell herself to the highest bidder; she has no clue about the compromises of pragmatism. Every time I witness her downfall, I long to help her, but she’s that beloved and soon-to-be mourned friend who can’t be saved from herself.

Kate Christensen’s latest novel, The Great Man, will be published this month by Doubleday.
